You're so close but I cannot feel you. In blindness I paint the deepest blue night when everything gets lost in shadows leaving just an echo of the memories we left behind -- like something captured in a photograph of fading time, calmly shifting from color to black and white to a final infinite grey.

Now that I'm older, I realize what's wrong and what's right and I know the bad times will be only slightly outnumbered by the good. Caught up in the twilight afterglow of a dream where I'm chasing your light.

Disappointed and frail, I'm suddenly realizing that every lost year has turned to rust on my soul.
