It is the spectre of familiarity, like a phantom limb, and I feel its absence as keenly as one might ache for the warmth of a distant lover. With it comes a longing that transcends physicality, a dance of the heart that commences when the world resigns to silence and darkness.

Gentle percussion on the windows summons petrichor. Droplets tap softly against glass, with closed eyes I am transported to the days when every heavy raindrop carried the weight of realized dreams.

It's not a mere footnote of a place that I miss, it's an epoch in the annals of my existence. A chapter that unfurled in the quietude of long afternoons in the company of a kindred soul who understood the language of shared silences and immense distance.

The absence is perceived not as a void but as a pulsating ghostly presence—a breathing whisper that lingers close to every spoken and unspoken thought.

Shadows cross a room lit by the light of other days . . .
